Hmmmm … the latest Frank Ocean sounds promising … to say the least. I’ll admit I’m on the bandwagon for a while now and a sucka for almost anything Frank Ocean. But in my defence … I do listen to every new Frank Ocean offering carefully and try to determine if it’s really hot or hype, cause we ain’t bloggin stuff simply because it’s an Ocean original over here.
In Ocean’s defence … he truly seems to have the gift of writing and creating something that feels and sounds completely different and remarkably refreshing. Of course he did have a little bit of practice as he has written songs for among others Justin Bieber, John Legend, Brandy and Beyonce. But ultimately I think being an affiliated member of OFWGKTA is what really helped to shape his current sound. In his case not using the word “signature” when it comes to his sound, is a conscious choice cause I really expect him to approach RnB from different angles and experiment a lot more in the future …
The almost ten minute track “Pyramid” is one of Frank Ocean’s most important releases to date, as it is to be the first single from his upcoming album “Channel Orange”. His debut album is scheduled for release on 17th of July 2012 …
